Hello all,

We're often asked how our house is getting on. Well after an unaccountable 5-month delay, the reason for which we will probably never really know, we are at last getting there. Unfortunately, the aluminium roof edging was not installed before northern Portugal caught the outer edge of storm Katie. The rain has between torrential and up the mountainside the cloud cover so low that we could hardly see our hands in front of our faces. The Roman soldiers who are usually to be seen hesitating on the bank of the river, fearful of crossing are now in the middle of a swollen river. Let's hope this isn't the River Lethe and that they don't lose their memories! For us, though, the result is that we now have a huge wet patch on the ceiling and down the walls.

Still, we must be thankful for small mercies. At least we now have windows!

If you would like to see them and the progress so far, this is the article to read.

The drive to finish our house

I trust none of you has been affected by similar awful weather.

Best wishes

Margaret
