|Hello everyone, |
I have a couple of new articles and a little comment for you.
One story tells of an unexpected delight. Turning the corner of the castle in Lindoso, I was instantly transported back to my childhood in the country and to the literary pleasure of reading books by Thomas Hardy – though today those of you who have seen the recent television version of Poldark are perhaps more likely to think of Aidan Turner!
Rejoicing in Lindoso
The second reflects the recent destruction of the Portuguese countryside. This happens every year, sometimes less horribly but sometimes even worse than this year. What is to be done? The answer can only be improved education; increased vigilance; a rethinking of rural economics and, though it is perhaps not for me to say so, a change of heart by the get-rich-quick elites.
Weep! Weep for Portugal
My little comment is on what seems to me to be a brilliant idea which could be copied at little expense anywhere that has a bus or a metro service. Perhaps you have seen this before or maybe it has been there for years and I have been unobservant, whatever the case I think it supremely sensible.
Bus seats: the simplest ideas are often the best
I trust you will enjoy the articles, that for some of you one article will raise treasured memories of rural life and that the other will give you pause for thought.
