Hello everyone,

It's a while since I wrote. As usual there are many things going on in our lives but finally I'm giving you a glimpse of a local Ponte de LIma café which specialises in food from around the region, especially meat products. It's on the main street running by the river so you have a lovely view of the old bridge and the tourists passing by.

Next, I have a story about a local doctor's obsession which has, I feel sure, led to the creation of one of best private collections in Portugal. If you have a big enough group you can probably see it as the present owner does occasionally conduct visitors around it but she won't open it up unless you have made an appointment.

A Private Obsession

This spring has been terribly wet, with rain everyday for a couple of weeks on many occasions. Indeed, at present, in spite of being quite well into May now, it is cold and we have cloudy skies with occasional showers. This hasn't stopped the orange trees from flowering and casting a glorious scent on the breeze, though, and the broom is out in full force.

I trust you will find the two stories interesting and the spring wherever you are is a delight.

Best wishes

Margaret
