I hope those of you who live in the UK are enjoying the Bank Holiday and that the rest are enjoying life in general wherever you are. The break has given me the opportunity to write about the Alentejo, a part of Portugal which is markedly different from the Minho, and a Pousada with a history of monks and valiant knights of old. As an aside, there is also a hint that the church has had failings all through the last couple of millennia; that there is perhaps nothing new under the sun - except, as you will see from the second photo, there isn't always a sun!
I trust you will enjoy the post and the photos and maybe think that a short break with a Pousada Passport - see the end of the article - might be a good way of de-stressing and seeing somewhere new. After all you can now fly in to Porto as well as Lisbon and Faro. (Porto airport, by the way, is charming.)

If you have any comments, you are more than welcome to leave them at the bottom of the page in either English or Portuguese.
Enjoy the sun, the blossom, the heady perfume on the breeeze and dream with me of holidays in Portugal.
Best wishes to you all.
